C. Albicans 64545 (Amphotericin B (AMB) sensitive) and C. lucitanea 64125 (AMB resistant) were mixed so that the resistant organism comprised approximately 1% of the total number of yeast cells.   The mixture was encapsulated and cultured in the presence of 0.63 µg/ml AMB.   The histograms show the fluorescence of encapsulated yeasts.  In the left panel, which represents time 0, no occupied GMDs were under marker M1 while in the right panel, in which the GMDs had been cultured in AMB for 6 hr, a clear sub-population of resistant encapsulated microcolonies appeared under marker M1.
